καλημέρα, Ελλάς! Kalimera, Hellas! Good morning, Greece!
I’ve always been curious about Santorini, after seeing so many couples spend their honeymoon there. Its whitewashed buildings and blue domes and blue seas surrounding the island seemed so idyllic and quaint. In November, we decided to just wing it and booked our tickets to Athens and Santorini. It was supposed to be a relaxing ~4 days there, but we ended up seeing quite a lot, including this famous sight, seen on many a postcard:

We arrived in Santorini on 30 Nov afer a 12 hour flight from Singapore to Athens, a 3.5 hour transit, and 45 minute domestic flight. We didn’t really get much sleep on the flight, and were pretty exhausted. We picked up the rental car and drove to our cave hotel in Oia.

We were aware that Oia, and Santorini in general would be pretty quiet in winter. But boy, we didn’t expect it to be like a ghost town! So many restaurants were closed for winter, and streets were quite empty. After checking in, we left for Oia Castle, where quite a lot of tourists were waiting for sunset.

I didn’t bring my tripod along since we wanted to have an easy evening just enjoying the sights around the town of Oia. But I still got some nice photos of the area at sunset.
